The goal of this project was to develop a low-cost, stick-on wireless sensor that senses electric and magnetic fields to non-intrusively meter the AC current, voltage, and real power usage of individual circuits in an electrical panel. The sensors can be installed simply, without an electrician, on the external face of the panel.
This sensor system reduced the install cost and time by approximately 10x compared to standard in-panel electricity meters, and became the core technology of Whisker Labs (acquired by Earth Networks in 2016).
